Student Jazz Experience
The AJA Student Jazz Experience features a jazz band to perform and provide students with an educational musical experience. Led by experienced jazz professionals, this immersive experience fosters culture and education to students to learn about jazz which is celebrated as a foundational part of American culture and music history. This program aims to create an engaging and educational performance and encourages their active participation, making the concert both a learning opportunity and a fun event. The Student Jazz Experience introduces young students to the world of jazz, sparking an appreciation for this vibrant genre.
The Dan Kwak Heritage Ensemble
The Dan Kwak Heritage Ensemble is a dynamic musical collective led by Dan Kwak, an LA-based composer, performer, and educator. With performances in cities around the globe—including Seoul, Valencia, New York City, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles—Kwak brings a wealth of cultural experience to his music.
This ensemble captures musical snapshots of personal journeys through diverse cultures across continents. With compositions that reflect this rich tapestry, the Heritage Ensemble prioritizes rhythms, colors, and melodies from various traditions, seamlessly woven together through improvisation and conversation. We are excited to welcome Jiho Choi as a featured guest musician, joining us from South Korea to enhance this unique musical experience.
AJA will start the new year with performances by the Dan Kwak Heritage Ensemble between January 6-17, 2025.
